Ridge Textured Wall Art - Large Framed 3D Canvas Print

Ridge is a large hand-finished textured canvas from Sydney Mirrors, available in three sizes up to 210x120cm, with raised surface relief you can actually feel.

Thick white strokes build up across a dark ground to form a peak, and the relief is applied by hand rather than printed. Run your fingers across it and you feel every ridge.

That is also why it costs more than Dune, Strata, Drift and Basalt. Those four are canvas prints with the depth captured in the image. Ridge has the depth built into the surface, so the shadows move as the light in your room changes through the day. A print cannot do that.

The contrast is the strongest in the range. Near-black ground, bright white relief, nothing in between. It suits a room that can carry a bold piece, and it works especially well where side light rakes across the wall and picks up the texture.

Can Ridge hang portrait or landscape?

Both. The D loops are fitted so it goes either way up. Hang it landscape above a sofa or sideboard, or portrait on a tall narrow wall, in an entry or up a stairwell.

Is the texture on Ridge real, or printed?

Real. The relief is applied by hand and sits proud of the canvas, so you can feel it and the shadows change as the light moves. Ridge, Alabaster, Quarry, Tide and Onyx all have genuine raised texture. Dune, Strata, Drift and Basalt are printed canvases that look sculptural but are smooth.

Why does Ridge cost more than the printed pieces?

Because the surface is hand-finished rather than printed. That is slower to make and the material sits on the canvas rather than in the image. You are paying for a physical surface, not a photograph of one.

Ridge or Onyx, which black and white piece should I choose?

Ridge builds to a single peak and reads as a landform, so it has a subject. Onyx is pure contrast with no subject at all, which makes it the more graphic of the two.

Will every piece look exactly the same?

Close, but not identical. Because the texture is applied by hand, small variations in the strokes are normal and expected. That is the nature of a hand-finished piece rather than a fault.

What size should I choose?

Hanging landscape above a sofa, aim for roughly two thirds of the sofa width. A 210cm sofa suits the 140 x 105cm piece, a 250cm to 280cm sofa suits the 180 x 120cm. Hanging portrait, measure the wall instead and aim to fill about two thirds of its width. Leave 15cm to 25cm between the furniture and the bottom of the frame.
